PESHAWAR, May 24: The frequent unannounced power failures and water shortage at the University of Peshawar, have affected students and teachers in this steamy weather Dawn learnt on Thursday.

“Without electricity it is hard for us to study during the day and sleep at night because our tiny rooms get terribly hot,” said a student of hostel No 1.

Another student complained that due to the lack of water we can’t even have proper wash before going for classes.

A university official told Dawn that that power failure was due to the strong winds which which damaged the supply lines a few days back, but now the situation was under control.

He added that the administration was taking a number of steps to better the situation.

He said tankers had been hired to bring water from outside the campus. A teacher, revealed that the water tankers were only meant for administration bungalows and not the staff and students.
