QUETTA, Sept 16: A man has confessed in court that he organized at least three major sectarian attacks in which more than 100 people were killed, police said on Thursday.

An activist of the outlawed Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, Dawood Badini, made the confession before a court here on Wednesday. At least 57 people were killed in a suicide attack on an Ashura procession in the provincial capital last year. A separate attack claimed the lives of 11 police recruits. Another 44 people died in a gun and grenade attack on an imambargah in March.

"The accused has confessed that he had organized the three attacks," chief police investigator Wazir Khan Nasir said. He said the accused was also wanted in connection with 10 other sectarian attacks. -Reuters
