ADB to help develop housing sector

ISLAMABAD, Sept 15: The Asian Development Bank will soon provide assistance in infrastructure development and housing sector and a proposal submitted by the Bank in this regard is being closely examined by the ministry of finance.

Dr Salman Shah, adviser to prime minister on finance, on Wednesday discussed the modalities and mechanism of the facility in a meeting with an ADB team, headed by Robert Bestani, director general, Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD).

Talking to the team, Mr Shah said the government is preparing to launch second generation reforms. He said the government is focussing to attract more foreign investment and efficient infrastructure in promoting investment and growth. He said this year Rs87 billion (59 per cent of federal PSDP) is allocated for improving country's infrastructure.
