COLOMBO, Sept 12: The Norwegian facilitators in Sri Lanka's peace process with the Tamil Tigers are to make a fresh attempt to revive the process. Erik Solheim, the special Norwegian envoy is to arrive in Colombo on Monday for a fresh round of consultations with the government and the LTTE.
He will travel to north on Thursday to meet the LTTE leadership, officials said. The official Sunday Observer said the LTTE would be expecting a positive response about resumption of the talks.
The LTTE had complained that "attempts have been made in the recent past to sabotage the cease fire agreement both politically and militarily". President Chandrika Kumaratunga held talks with the main opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe on Thursday on her attempt to revive the talks.
