Carla beaten in semis

KARACHI, Sept 6: Pakistani Carla Khan's winning streak in World Mexican Open comes to an end when she lost to seventh seeded Anneleze Naude from the Netherlands in five games 9-1, 9-4, 4-9, 5-9, 9-2 at Mexico City in the semifinals.

According to the details made available here on Monday, Naude ended the brave run of Carla - though was stretched to five games by the English-born sixth seed who dispatched the No2 seed Jenny Duncalf in the previous round.

The final of the women's will be an all-Dutch affair after Netherlands players Vanessa Atkinson, the top seed, and Annelize Naude, the seventh seed, triumphed in the semi-finals.

Atkinson was in commanding form as she swept to her third successive straight games win of the event, beating Scotland's fourth seed Pamela Nimmo 9-3 9-5 9-0. Atkinson, 28, from The Hague, is one win away from her fourth WISPA title this year.
