NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Aug 23: Officials of the Sindh revenue department posted in different Tapas of the district have not been paid their salary for several years.
A survey conducted by this correspondent revealed that about 80 Tapedars posted in Naushahro Feroze, Kandiaro, Bhirya and Moro talukas were not being paid their salary since the last several years.
Tapedar Koro Memon, Allah Dino, Zaheer Memon and Bashir Memon of Naushahro Feroze taluka said they were compelled to adopt illegal means as they were being deprived of their salary.
A farmer, Daud Rajpar, said he was approaching the officials for the last couple of years for recording entries about his agriculture land according to the compromise decree passed by the court but in vain.
He said a Tapedar obtained money for recording such entries but two years had passed neither entries were recorded nor money was returned. Tapedar Koro Memon, Basheer Memon, Zaheer Memon and Allah Dino said in the past, cross cheques of salary were being issued in favour of Tapedars but later the cheques were made as bearers with signatures of the authorized officer.
The cheques were carried by a loyal official of Mukhtiarkar who collect the money from the bank and handover to Mukhtiarkars. Officials at the National Bank branch confirmed that salary of Tapedars was not credited into their accounts but was collected by one man.
When contacted the Mukhtiarkar said he was recently posted there and did not know much about this practice. He said there were many miscellaneous expenses imposed by high officials on Mukhtiarkars hence salaries of Tapedars were used on these accounts.
