QUETTA, Aug 2: The Baloch Students Organization (united) has announced that a wheel-jam strike would be observed on Thursday in the province to protest against a search operation in Makran coastal area.
Speaking at a press conference in press club on Monday, BSO chairman Imdad Baloch alleged that law-enforcement agencies have arrested BSO Turbat zone President Majid Baloch and secretary Hamid Baloch and demanded their release immediately.
Mr Baloch claimed that the search operation, harassment of people and women in their homes and arrest of political activists were part of an organized campaign to humiliate Balochs in coastal area.
He stated that use of force against innocent people or apprehending the workers of political parties and student organizations would not resolve the problem as this tactics would further deteriorate the situation. He said his organization been forced to call for protest on Aug 5.
RELOCATION: Balochistan Senior Minister Maulana Abdul Wasay has said that the government needs Rs22 billion for shifting entire 'old and Kachchi Abadis' to new sites under the Gwadar Master Plan, APP adds.
Presiding over a meeting here on Sunday to discuss problems relating to Gwadar port and town, he said the government could not arrange this much amount at the moment and asked the federal government for providing funds to facilitate houses for the locals.
He termed rumours about rendering the people of Gwadar homeless quite baseless. The government would establish residential colonies for poor and middle-class people and give them houses on easy instalments. -APP
