HYDERABAD, July 23: The Sindh Taraqqi Passand Party central committee has expressed grave concern over consensus on building big dams reached in the parliamentary water committee meeting , saying it fails to understand from where will water for the dams come from.

A meeting held here on Thursday under STPP chairman Dr Qadir Magsi, observed that due to acute water shortage in Sindh, the agriculture sector had been destroyed with farmers chopping down their fruit trees.

Criticizing the proposition that water should be distributed on historical basis, it regretted that Sindh was not getting its due share and directed party workers to take full part in the struggle against Kalabagh dam and Greater Thal canal projects. The meeting also demanded that robberies along the River Indus should be curbed forthwith.

PPP: The People's Party Parliamentarians has condemned the recent baton-charging of party workers by police in Karachi on the chehlum of Munawar Hussain Suharwardy.

In a joint statement issued here on Friday, MPA Zahid Ali Bhurgari, Syed Fayaz Ali Shah, Amanullah Siyal, Mir Fateh Talpur, Aftab Ahmed Khanzada and others said that the attack on peaceful party workers on such a solemn occasion was highly censurable. They said that the PPP would soon initiate a country-wide movement for restoration of democracy that would end the rule of dictators.

NAZIM: A group of people of Tando Jam on Thursday accused the taluka nazim of Hyderabad (rural) of nepotism and said due to indifferent attitude of the nazim, unhygienic conditions were prevailing in the town.
