KARACHI, July 19: Karachi Hindu Panchayat on Monday urged the government to recover President Hindu Panchayat, Larkana, Santosh Kumar. Santosh was kidnapped on July 4 in village Pakha, near Larkana.

At a press conference at Karachi Press Club, ex-MNA and President Hindu Panchayat Karachi Bhagwan Das Chawla, Mr. Tharvani and Mr. Inder Lal also demanded effective measures for improving law and order situation and demanded security to the Hindu community in Sindh.

They said that the failure of police to recovery Santosh Kumar had created much anguish, panic and unrest among the Hindu community and many families have started migrating from interior to big cities of the province for safety.

Bhagwan Das Chawla said that kidnapping cases of Hindu community members were on the rise for the last few months and the victims are released after payment of huge ransom amount.

The Hindu community leaders urged President General Pervez Musharraf to intervene in the case and ensure safety and security of Hindu community, as well as their assets. They appreciated the help extended by Muslim brothers.

On the occasion, President, All-Pakistan Minorities Alliance, Michael Javed warned the government that if Santosh Kumar was not recovered in next three days, they would go on a complete strike closing their businesses and the Christian community would protest shoulder to shoulder with the Hindu community. -PPI
