KHAIRPUR: Kidnap victims freed

KHAIRPUR, July 19: A group of 20 armed men kidnapped a women and her two daughters from the Tando Maitlo village in the jurisdiction of the Pir-jo-Goth police station on late Sunday night.

However, the kidnap victims were later recovered by the villagers and police. The armed men entered the village, opened aerial fire and barged into the house of Mohammad Khan Maitlo from where they kidnapped his wife, Hakiman, 40, and daughters, Irshad, 15, and Guddi, 12.

The villagers chased the kidnappers by tracking their footprints and reached Mahar Kandhro village near Kolab Jiyal. Meanwhile, police also joined them and cordoned off the village for about nine hours.

On Monday, police recovered three kidnap victims from from the house of Ghulam Hussain Kandhro. Police also reportedly picked up seven men, Ali Gohar, Ghulam Hussain, Gul Bahar, Allah Bachayo, Abdul Qayoom, Jurial and Abdul Khaliq, all Kandhro by caste, and recovered three Kalashnikovs, one rifle, five magazines and bullets from their possession.

The kidnappings are believed to be in reaction to the love marriage of a Kandhro girl and a Maitlo clansman about six months ago.
