KARACHI, July 16: The Sindh chief secretary, Aslam Sanjrani, has said that development of energy sources and health infrastructure, promotion of education, repair and expansion of roads are included among the priorities through which a headway can be achieved for solution to social problems and improvement of economic affairs.

Welcoming the projects of solar and wind energies, he assured all-out cooperation at the highest government level. He made these observations at a presentation given at a high level meeting regarding a 100 MW Wind Energy Project.

The presentation was arranged by the Alternate Energy Development Board, Prime Minister Secretariat. The meeting was attended by the chairman AEDB, Air Marshal Shahid, Secretary/Member Technical AEDB Brig Dr Nasim A. Khan, Provincial Secretary Environment and Alternate Energy Shujaat Ali Qarni, Riaz Ahmed Khan, DCO Thatta.

The AEDB plans to install a 100 MW wind energy project at Sindh's coastal area, preferably Gharo in Thatta, which would initially operate as a pilot project, later increasing its capacity to 500 MW.

An AEDB team would visit various areas for identification of land with officials of the Irrigation and Power department and DCO Thatta. The team would later submit its report to the chief secretary, who would then take steps for implementation of the project after approval from the competent authority. - APP
