PESHAWAR, July 13: The Pakistan Flour Mills Association will hold a meeting on Thursday to deliberate on the deadline given for strike against using delaying tactics by Punjab in implementation of the prime minister's directives regarding lifting of ban on transportation of wheat from Punjab to other provinces.

A press release on Tuesday said that the meeting of the association would be held under its central chairman Niaz Ahmad on Thursday at the Industrial Estate Hayatabad Township, wherein members of central committee of the association from all the provinces would take part.

It said that the authority to place ban on the intra- provincial transportation of wheat rests with the National Assembly, but Punjab had imposed the ban illegally to enhance its stock. The ban had caused severe crisis of the commodity in the country.

It also asked the government to grant permission to the provinces so they could import wheat from other countries through food departments to fulfil their requirements. The association had been trying its level best to negotiate the problem with the federal government, but due to the stubbornness of the Punjab government, the problem still remained unresolved, the press release said.
