Challenge Cup on annual basis

KARACHI, June 24: Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) and Billiards and Snooker Federation India (BSFI) have agreed to change the name ofPeace Cup into a Challenge Cup and it will be held on annual basis.

PBSA chief Ali Asghar Valika, who returned on Wednesday from India after the second edition of the series in Chandigar said on Thursday that now in the future it will be titled as Challenge Cup.

He said Pakistan will be hosting third edition of the event in January 2005. PBSA chief said he held fruitful meeting with BSFI head P.N.Roy and discussed with him the matter for promoting the game in the region.

Valika said though Indians won the series 3-0 but they also were unable to show their top form as their world champion Pankaj Advani struggled during the championship.

However, he said hosting the series, will benefit the players in lifting the overall standard of the game and appreciated the Indians for extending a great hospitality to the Pakistan contingent. -APP
