NANKANA SAHIB, June 22: A delegation of Sikh pilgrims was greatly impressed with the maintenance of their religious places in Pakistan, especially in Nankana Sahib which has seven gurdwaras built in the memory of their spiritual head, Baba Guru Nanak.
Delegation leader Sardar Nirvair Singh, on the occasion of the 165th death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh, said they were greatly impressed with the upkeep and maintenance of their religious places.
Talking to APP here on Tuesday at Gurdwara Janam Asthan, he appreciated the new residential blocks built by the Pakistan government under the supervision of the Evacuee Trust Property Board and the Pakistan Gurdwara Parbandak Committee.
He also thanked the Pakistan government and the people for according them a splendid reception at the Wagah and Nankana Sahib railway stations. He said the new generation of both the countries wanted peace and not war, and hoped that the talks at foreign secretaries level would further enhance peace in the region.
