KARACHI, June 21: Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said he is committed to serve the cause of people of Sindh without any discrimination of cast, colour or creed.
"All resources will be employed for eliminating injustices, corruption , malpractice and wrong doings from the province," he declared, while talking to a delegation of industrialists and businessmen at Chief Minister's House on Sunday night.
He pointed out that establishment of law and order and elimination of unemployment were among the most important problems of Sindh. He said supremacy of the government will be established and improvement would be brought in all departments so that problems of people are resolved.
Dr Arbab told the delegation that the government would extend maximum facilities for promoting industrial sector, resulting in the creation of employment opportunities.
"Comprehensive measures will be taken with the help and co-operation of people for country's progress," he said, adding that law and order would be ensured so that everyone can do his work fearlessly and earn livelihood for their children.
The chief minister said that President Pervez Musharraf too wanted that maximum facilities and incentives were granted to industrialists and investors, so that industrial and trade activities get a boost within the country.
He observed that loadshedding was also a factor in creating law and order. He observed that loadshedding was done to hide power theft and to make up for the shortage of units consumed, adding he had already issued a warning to HESCO in this regard.
He asked industrialists and businessmen to give their proposals for industrial development in Sindh. A meeting would soon be convened for working out a final strategy, he added.
On the occasion, president FPCCI Riaz Ahmed Tata, President KCCI Siraj Kassim Teli, Tariq Sayeed, Zubair Motiwala, S M Munir, Qaisar Shaikh, Majyz Aziz, Mir Hasan Khoso and other industrialists endorsed priorities of the chief minister and assured him of their full cooperation. They appreciated Dr Arbab's sincerity and spirit, and said they would go along with him for meeting the objectives of law and order and employment.
LEGHARI: Former president Sardar Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari on Monday met Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and felicitated him on assuming the office of chief minister.
Leghari, on the occasion, expressed hope that Dr Arbab's appointment would prove a ray of hope for the people of Sindh, adding he would serve as a bridge between urban and rural people, the results of which had already started appearing.
He noted the long and short term planning being carried out by chief minister, and said there was still room for reforms and a need to give people hope. He said the steps being taken by Dr Arbab were in a right direction, and observed that Arbab was keen to establish good governance.
Farooq Leghari observed that the chief minister was carrying all political parties along, which was a good and positive approach. Arbab said MQM was a partner in the coalition government, and he saw nothing wrong ahead, adding that Pakistan needed stability and unity.
He pointed out that President Pervez Musharraf, too, was advocating good governance, and had asked PML leaders to approach people and solve their problems. The present provincial government, he said, was working with a team spirit along with its coalition partners.
He emphasised that answer to every issue lay in dialogue, and he and Sindh governor were working hand in hand. He said that politics and democracy were run in a more better way through consultation, adding that he would take people along, or go home if he failed to solve their problems. -APP
