KARACHI, June 17: Another activist of self-styled militant organization 'Jundullah' was, on Thursday, remanded in police custody till June 28, 2004 in the corps commander's motorcade attack, and other law enforcers' killing cases by Judge Arshad Noor Khan of Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Karachi.
Shahzad Mukhtar alias Talha was arrested by police yesterday from Mobina Town area Karachi. He was produced before the court amid tight security with his face covered. He was charged with attacking the motorcade of Corps Commander of Karachi Lt-Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat on June 10 in Clifton area, resulting in the deaths of 10 people including six army personnel and three policemen, and injuring 10 others.
Police said he was one of the attackers who attacked the motorcade of corps commander. Police accused him of killing five policemen at Gulistan-e-Johar police station on April 4, 2004, besides accusing him in the Ranger's mobile van attack case in Ferozabad area on March 19, 2004 in which two Rangers personnel were killed and others injured.
On Monday, eight activists of Jundullah - Attaur Rehman alias Ibrahim, Shahzad Ahmed, Yaqoob Saeed, Uzair Ahmed, Shoaib Siddiqui, Danish Inam, Najeebullah and Khurrum Saifullah - were remanded in the above said cases. -PPI
