KARACHI: Death toll rises to 22, as another victim dies: Imambargah blast
KARACHI, June 2: Another victim of the Imambargah Ali Raza blast died here at Liaquat National Hospital on Wednesday, increasing the death toll to 22. Father of four children, Syed Rizwan Hussain, 45, was a PIA employee. His funeral prayers were offered at Hussaini Imambargah, Jacoblines.
Earlier, 21 persons including the suspected suicide bomber had died in the blast. Assistant Director, Liaquat National Hospital, Dr Shaukat Rajput told Dawn that there were 34 victims of the blast admitted to the hospital. Out of them, he said, nine were in serious condition.
Meanwhile, a young man, who was hit by a vehicle on M.A. Jinnah Road just after the blast and admitted to Civil Hospital, died here on Wednesday. Hospital sources said that Mohammad Zaman, 23, was also a blood cancer patient.
SOYEM: A collective majlis-i-soyem of the 21 faithful killed in the Imambargah Ali Raza blast on Monday will be held at Mehfil-i-Shahe Khurasan on Thursday at 4pm. This was stated by Maulana Mirza Yousaf of the All Pakistan Shia Action Committee here on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Khoja Asna-Ashari community on Wednesday observed soyem of nine faithful, who died in the Imambargah Ali Raza blast. In this connection, a majlis was held at the Bhojani Hall in Soldier Bazaar, which was attended by a large number of mourners.
