MANSEHRA, May 31: Mansehra District Nazim Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah has said that the district government is making all out efforts to support the health department in its drive to eradicate polio and would utilise all its resources to save future generations from this deadly disease.

He was speaking at a function arranged at the DHQ hospital here on Monday in connection with the three days anti-polio campaign to run from June 1 to June 3.

DCO Hussain Zada Khan, EDO health department Dr. Syed Pervez Ali Shah and WHO's coordinator for anti-polio campaign Dr. Qamar Zaman also spoke on the occasion.

A walk was also held at the end of the function for polio awareness in which the school children, doctors and par-medical staff and students of Frontier Medical college Abbottabd also participated.

Giving details about the anti-polio drive, the EDO Health Dr Syed Pervez Ali said that a total of 666 teams have been constituted for the three-day anti-polio drive in the district and 92 area incharges have been deputed for monitoring purpose.

He said that 96 fixed stations have been established throughout the district that would remain open from 1 June to 5 June between 8.00am to 5.00 pm for also covering the leftover cases. He said that the campaign has been already completed in the tribal belt of Kala Dhaka with the help of 80 teams and 14 area incharges between 25 May and 29 May.

Meanwhile, the EPI incharge of the EDO Health Office, Nazir Sultan, who was busy in making arrangements for the three-day anti-polio drive was severely injured in a road accident on Sunday night, when his vehicle (EPI-85) collided with a Suzuki pick up (F-7841) and fell into a ravine near Government Commerce College on the Karakoram Highway. He has been admitted to the DHQ hospital in a critical condition.
