LAHORE, May 27: Light rain early on Thursday morning made weather a little pleasant in the provincial metropolis. The showers began to fall at 6:30am after dark clouds covered the city skyline, leaving a cooling effect on the city. The drizzle continued for quite some time.
The day's maximum temperature dropped from Wednesday's 38.5 degrees C to 35 degrees C. The minimum temperature was 21.5 degrees C with 78 per cent humidity in the morning and 39 per cent in the evening.
The meteorological office reported light rain also in some other cities of the Punjab and in the northern areas. It said the rain was generated by a low pressure over Balochistan and the adjoining areas of Sindh and South Punjab.
A trough of low pressure over Kashmir and the NWFP was another factor. According to its record, Murree and Lahore received 7mm of rain, Kakul 5mm, Muzaffarabad 3mm, Mandi Bahauddin 1mm, and Astore, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Garhi Dupatta, Kotli and Jhelum had traces of rain.
The Met office has forecast thunderstorm with light rain in the plains of the province during the next 24 hours. It would remain partly cloudy in Lahore.
