MANSEHRA, May 25: The Batgram district nazim Attaullah Khan Tarand has directed teachers of girls schools in the area to ensure their presence in the schools or face disciplinary action.

He was addressing teachers of the district at a function at government girls primary school Sharifabad on Tuesday. The district nazim said that imparting education to girls was the need of the hour and in a backward area like Batgram, it became more essential for improving the living standard of the people.

He warned that even if a school teacher was his relative would not be spared if she was found absent from duty. He said incentives were being given to the parents to encourage female education in the area through the World Food Programme and Tawana Pakistan Programme and books were being distributed free of cost.

Mr Tarand urged the lady teachers to transparently implement these programmes so that the girls of the area could play a better role in the society. He said that for the first time in a backward area like Batgram, the district government has made efforts to appoint local women as school teachers.

He pointed out that the appointment of 200 local women as school teachers was an achievement. He said this step would promote female education in the area.

TELEPHONE: The divisional engineer telephone Mansehra Burhanuddin Wazir has said that the PTCL was utilizing all its resources to solve the problems of the subscribers and to ensure the provision of telephone connection facility at their doorsteps.

Speaking to the intending subscribers at various union councils of the upper Tanawal area at the time of distributing demand notes on Tuesday, the DE telephones said 206 demand notes have been distributed in the union council Parhinna, 50 in union council Darband and 20 in union council Lassan Nawab.

He said providing telephone connection in the rural areas for Rs 575 was a very benevolent step of the PTCL and people should take advantage of this opportunity.
