Two women killed

LAHORE, May 20: Two women were murdered while another was injured in various parts of the city on Monday.

Javed stabbed his wife, Bushra, 32, and daughter Aaisha, 17, along a road near the Liberty Market in Gulberg. He tried to escape after the attack but some passersby overpowered him and handed him over to the police.

Both the injured women were rushed to a nearby hospital where Aaisha succumbed to her injuries. The condition of Bushra was stated to be critical till late night.

Quoting Javed, the police said his wife used to go missing from home without telling him. He suspected her of loose morals.

Newly-wed Saddaf, 23, was found dead in her room in Kashmir Block of the Allama Iqbal Town.

Married hardly some four months ago, Saddaf was a student of ICMA, her husband Majid told police. He said he was informed about the killing in his office.

Saddaf’s brother Younas told police he went to visit her and found her lying in a pool of blood. He called the police who rushed the spot and found the woman had sustained bullet injuries.

The police have sent the bodies to the city mortuary for autopsy.

ACCIDENTS: Two persons were killed in road accidents in different parts of the city.

Anwar Bhatti, 50, was crossing the Lytton Road when a motorcycle-rickshaw hit him. He sustained serious injuries and died at the Mayo Hospital.

An unidentified cyclist, about 50, was hit by a van in the Township area. He died on the way to hospital.
