SUKKUR, April 27: Police were called in to quell a clash between supporters of a TMO and councillors after the Taluka council passed a resolution transferring the TMO on Tuesday.
Some Naib Nazims and councillors wanted to dislodge the TMO Mehdi Hassan Solangi on charges of corruption and discussed the matter in the meeting in the absence of Taluka Nazim Syed Kazim Ali Shah and Naib Nazim Wazir Memon.
After half an hour debate some five Naib Nazims and members reached the TMO office and asked him to vacate the office as the council had passed the resolution of his transfer.
The TMO refused to vacate the office and said that the Taluka council had no authority to transfer him. The scuffle started on the issue between the TMO and some Naib Nazims and members.
Some supporters of the TMO reached the spot and clash started. The TMO called the police team that brought the situation under control. Talking to this correspondent, TMO Mehdi Hassan said that about five Naib Nazims and certain members worked as contractors in fake names and they pressurized him to clear the dues of the works which had not been executed. He said that after his refusal they had formed a pressure group against him.
