LAHORE, April 19: Law- enforcement personnel on Monday searched a seminary at Karim Park in Shafiqabad. Rasheed Mian, the administrator of the Jamia Madnia of the JUI-F, told Dawn that two dozen law enforcers in police uniform and civvies visited the religious school. "It was not like a raid, as the policemen entered the seminary with his permission and didn't violate any law."
He said the policemen had surrounded the entire building, including hostels. He quoted the law-enforcers as informing him that they were looking for someone, whose identity or whereabouts would not be revealed.
The policemen, he said, remained inside the building for well over an hour and searched all the rooms thoroughly. They lined up the seminary students and also questioned some of them, he said, adding that they didn't touch the record of the institution.
Later, he said, the policemen left the place without giving any message to the administration. When contacted, a senior police official told this reporter on the condition of anonymity that some intelligence agencies might have done it.
