KARACHI, April 19: Representatives of SITE Association of Industry have expressed their resentment over alleged unjust and unfair policies of KESC for their area, adversely affecting their business.

In a meeting with KESC official at the SITE association office on Monday, they demanded of KESC authorities to adopt a just, equitable and fair system to deal with industrialists of the SITE and to mitigate their sufferings.

The meeting, which was held to place complaints of industrialists before KESC management, was to be attended by KESC managing director Brig Tariq Saddozai but he could not turn up due to his engagements somewhere else.

The meeting discussed wide range of issues pertaining to power supply, shifting charges of meter outside consumer's premises, responsibility of outdoor meters and provision of sub- station to the area. Besides, overloading of distribution system, regularization of total connected load, disputed cases pending with review committee, use of substandard material by the KESC also came under discussion.

The meeting observed that it was solely KESC responsibility to ensure uninterrupted supply of power to consumers and take appropriate measures to prevent theft of electricity.

Majority of representatives complained that whenever KESC management was approached for any problem, they never paid heed and noted that a large number of cases of industrialists regarding electricity problems had been lying with KESC for quite a long time.

Association's president Nisar Shekhani said, "The KESC should come up with concrete steps to resolve the problems of industrialists of the Site regarding power supply and meters as they contribute a major chunk of revenue to the KESC in shape of utility bills."

Col Khursheed Anwar, Officer In-charge Billing KESC, said that KESC moves were basically aimed at ensuring uninterrupted supply of electricity to industrialists of the Site. However, he noted that there might also be unwanted results of those efforts. He assured them that the KESC would do its utmost to resolve the problems of industrialists by brining change in their policies. -PPI
