PBF seeks LEA help

KARACHI, April 14: Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has sought help from law enforcement agencies (LEA) and higher authorities to hold Regional Qualifying Rounds for Athens Olympics in a befitting manner.

PBF chief Prof Anwar Chowdhry said that to hold the event in a befitting manner they would need the help of Army, Rangers and Police. He said PBF has requested to Gen Arif, chairman SAF Games to preside over the organizing committee meeting of Athens Qualifying Rounds was to be held on Wednesday.

Mr Chowdhry said that about 35 countries were to participate in the event and it would turn out to be the biggest event ever held in the country. This event would put huge responsibilities on the organizers, he added. He said PBF was not financially strong and needs proper patronage by the relevant authorities. - PPI
