SUKKUR, May 19: One passenger was killed and four others sustained injuries when a bus collided with a truck near the Ghotki section of the National Highway on Sunday.

The bus (LSD-379) was on its way to Karachi from Multan.

The deceased, Sadaqat Ali, was stated to be a resident of Mianwali. The injured, Nasir Mehmood, Mohammad Sadiq, Mohammad Ahmed and Ms Noora, were taken to the Ghotki Taluka Hospital.

The driver escaped and police impounded the bus.

Growers’ rally: Growers staged a demonstration in front of the office of the executive engineer Irrigation, Ghotki, on Sunday against the stoppage of water supply to their lands.

Led by the Nazim of Union Council Beari, the protesters complained that the irrigation officials were blocking the water supply to Bund Minor to extort money from the growers.

They pointed out that not a single drop of water was released in the waterway during the whole season.
