VEHARI, April 5: There has been no water in the DHQ hospital for the last few days which forced the patients to either go back to their homes or shift to private hospitals.
It is learnt that the tubewell of the hospital went out of order a few days ago and the administration took no step to repair it. It is the third such incident and, on the last occasion, the tubewell was repaired after 15 days at a cost of Rs500,000.
According to an engineer, a new tubewell can be installed in such a big amount which was spent on the repair of old one. A source told this scribe on Monday that the Vehari district government recently gave Rs700,000 to the hospital for repair and maintenance of machinery.
When contacted, the hospital MS said no fund has so far been provided for the repair of tubewell. As the TMA and buildings department have refused to repair the tubewell.
He, however, said he was trying to engage mechanics for the repair of tubewell. The MS alleged that patients were shifted to private hospitals with the connivance of hospital's paramedical staff and doctors who run these hospitals.
