TOBA TEK SINGH: Woman shot dead on resistance

TOBA TEK SINGH, April 1: Three masked bandits shot dead a woman and injured her husband and a relative on resistance during a dacoity attempt on Wednesday night in Upper Colony, Pirmahal.

Armed dacoits barged into the house of Muhammad Ali, held the inmates hostage and asked them to hand over cash, valuables and ornaments. The intruders opened fire when the inmates offered resistance, killing Ali's wife Salamat Bibi instantly and injuring Ali and his relative Farzand. They were shifted to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the Pirmahal police on Thursday claimed they had arrested two dacoits involved in the dacoity-cum-murder incident. A police official disclosed that both the arrested dacoits belonged to Chak 315-GB, Toba. However, he did not give out their names.

In another incident, two robbers shot and injured seriously a farmer for holding them out in Kamalia area on Thursday. Saeed Gujjar of Mouza Chah Khujjiwala was going to his village by motorcycle (TS-9596) when he was stopped by robbers near Mouza Mohalwala.

The armed robbers attempted to snatch his bike, but he tried to resist. At this, robbers opened fire, injuring him seriously. He was admitted to Kamalia THQ Hospital in critical condition.

STRIKE: Kamalia Bar Association members observed a complete strike on Thursday to condemn the murder of a Faisalabad bar association's senior member Mian Arshad Khial. A general body meeting of the bar offered fateha for the late lawyer and demanded immediate arrest of his killers.

VISIT: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool will visit here on April 7. He will address district council members besides visiting offices of various federal government offices. The governor will also inspect the Teku Park.

KILLED: A minor girl was hit to death by a speeding motorcycle (TSB-5633) here on Thursday. Shakila Perveen was crossing the road when the accident happened.
