NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Police involved in drug peddling: DPSC

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, March 23: District Public Safety Commission chairman Mir Mohammad Solangi has alleged that the local police are involved in running drug dens and other crimes whereas the traffic police is also creating problems for the people.

Talking to journalists here on Monday, the DPSC chairman said the commission was set up to take action against police officials involved in crimes and other irregularities.

He said he had told the DPOs (operation) and (investigation) to bring corrupt officials on the right path as the people had already suffered a lot and added that corruption was deep-rooted that could not be curbed unless DPOs put effort in it.

DPSC member Mohammad Khan Korai told journalists that the commission had conveyed to DPOs and TPOs that crime was rampant owing to their negligence as well as involvement of corrupt police officials. He said he had given a week to the police to eradicate the drug business in the district.

BEE-KEEPING: A workshop on honeybee-keeping was held here on Monday, presided over by District Nazim Masroor Khan Jatoi. Bee-keeping expert Dr Mohammad Siddiq Munawar from Islamabad, agriculture director Dr Abid Ali Khan, DCO, EDOs (education) and (revenue) as well as progressive farmers attended the workshop.

The speakers, while commenting on the benefits of bee- keeping, said it would give financial support to the bee-keepers on the one hand, while on the other, people would get pure honey at low price. The agriculture director appealed to interested persons to contact his department for guidance and assistance in this regard.

SUICIDE: A teenaged girl allegedly committed suicide in her house near Munuth, close to Tharushah, late on Sunday night. Bilqees, 18, daughter of Manzoor Sehto, committed suicide by taking pesticides because of some domestic problem. She was rushed to the Naushahro Feroze Civil Hospital but could not be saved.

ENCOUNTER: A person was killed while an outlaw was injured in a police encounter on the Moro-Dadu road near Sabeel late on Sunday night. Mohammad Sadiq Solangi, resident of Khairpur Nathan Shah, was on his way to Moro in a taxi. When he reached near Sabeel, four bandits forced the cab to stop.

Meanwhile, a mobile of the Korai police arrived at the scene, prompting the outlaws to open fire. The police retaliated which resulted in injury to a bandit, Bahadur Ali Chandio, while the other three managed to escape.

Mohammad Sadiq, who was also injured in the crossfire, later succumbed to his injuries. The Korai police have lodged two separate FIRs of murder and encounter.

SNATCHED: Three unidentified armed men snatched a motorcycle from Shafqat Brohi in Pir Bakhsh Brohi village near Bhirya on Monday. In another incident, three unidentified armed men snatched a motorcycle from Din Mohammad Kondhar on the Kandiaro road near Khan Wahan.
