MARDAN, Oct 26: Former NWFP minister and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Rahim Dad Khan has said his party supported the Gen Pervez Musharraf’s government in the present crisis because it was supporting the plan for a broad-based government in Afghanistan.

Talking to newsmen, he said the crisis in Afghanistan was no less than a human tragedy. Its affairs warranted a careful and intelligent handling.

He said the PPP stuck to its stand that the government should immediately hold general elections in the country and hand over power to the elected people, who could deal with the crisis effectively.
