KARACHI, March 18: The Sindh Sea Festival to be celebrated this year should be exemplary and reflective of culture and tourism as well as trade and industry of the province. These views were expressed by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad while chairing a high-level meeting at the Governor House on Thursday.
The meeting reviewed arrangements for the festival, which was scheduled to be held from Nov 26 to 28 at the Clifton beach. The organizer and cosponsor of the festival, Zoaib Hasan, apprised the governor of the details of the event at the meeting.
Dr Ibad was of the view that the festival would be a beautiful addition to the hustle bustle of the metropolis and would be aimed at provision of healthy recreation to citizens. Moreover, he said that the event would also contribute towards beautification of the beach.
The governor called for necessary coordination among various departments for making the festival a great success. He said that efforts should also be made to make it an international event.
It was decided that Sindh Secretary Culture would be the focal person for the festival while "Green Turtle" would be the logo. Dr Ibad stressed that the dwellers of the coastal areas, fishermen and school children must also be encouraged to participate in various programmes of the festival.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr Mutawakil Kazi, Principal Secretary Brig Akhtar Zamin, Additional Chief Secretary Syed Anwar Haider, Secretary Culture Abid Shaikh, Secretary Excise Subhan Memon, Secretary Environment Shamsul Haq Memon, Secretary Education Ghulam Ali Pasha, CCPO Asad Ashraf Malick and DCO Mir Hussain Ali. - APP/PPI
