SHIKARPUR, March 17: Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuhro has accused the rulers of damaging the sanctity of parliament. Speaking at a news conference in Garhi Yasin on Tuesday evening , he said the People's Party Parliamentarians believed in the rule of law and wanted the supremacy of parliament to solve the national issues from this platform.
Mr Khuhro alleged the rulers were involved in horse-trading and other undemocratic activities, forcing the PPP legislators to change their loyalty by hook or crook.
ANNIVERSARY: To chalk out plans for 25th death anniversary of PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, a party meeting was held in Kot Durrani, Garhi Yasin taluka, on Tuesday.
Party office-bearers from Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Larkana districts attended the meeting, presided over by People's Party Parliamentarians provincial president Nisar Ahmed Khuhro.
The meeting finalized arrangements for the death anniversary to be held in Garhi Khuda Bukhsh Bhutto on April 4. It also discussed reorganization of the party and its affiliated organizations, besides emphasizing the need for participate in the by-elections of local bodies to be held on March 28.
The meeting, through different resolutions, demanded that Asif Ali Zardari should be released, cases against him and Benazir be withdrawn, disputed water be abandoned and severe punishment be meted out to those responsible for flour crisis.
The meeting also denounced the kidnapping of four residents of Hameed Jagir village, Garhi Yasin taluka, and accused the TPO of encouraging criminal activities.
Among others, MNAs Shahid Bhutto and Ruqaya Soomro; MPAs Ayaz Soomro, Ghulam Mujtaba Isran, Azizullah Jatoi and Najamuddin Abro; Aftab Shaban Mirani and Siraj Durrani, participated in the discussion.
PROTEST: A procession was taken out by the activists of social welfare and shopkeepers associations in Garhi Yasin on Wednesday against the police failure to recover four people kidnapped from Hameed Jagir village.
The procession started from the Khirthar canal bridge and culminated outside the Garhi Yasin press club. The protestors demanded that kidnap victims should be released and the TPO Garhi Yasin be dismissed.
RALLY: A procession of the Shabab-i-Milli Pakistan that set out from Rawalpindi reached here on Tuesday after marching through different cities. Led by Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, the participants held demonstrations in Khanpur, Shikarpur, Lakhi Ghulam Shah and other places to express solidarity with the Pakistani scientists and support for nuclear programme of the country.
