LAHORE, March 15: The Federal Investigation Agency claimed on Monday to have arrested two human smugglers in the provincial metropolis. FIA officials told this reporter that Iftikhar Qureshi and Ishtiaq Qureshi, two brothers, were involved in sending people to Malaysia on fake documents.
One of their brothers was in Malaysia, who held hostage the person they sent from Pakistan and demanded ransom from his family, the FIA officials said, adding they had taken action on the complaint of a victim's family.
The suspects had sent Shahbaz to Malaysia where their brother kidnapped him and demanded ransom from his family. A case has been registered against the suspects.
GANG BUSTED: The CIA staff claimed on Monday to have arrested the Rehmat Ali alias Rehmati gang of robbers and recovered weapons, cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs2 million from their possession.
According to a handout, the gangsters were wanted in 32 cases of robbery registered with different police stations. Those arrested were Rehmat Ali (ring leader), Abdul Khaliq, Zulfiqar, Imran, Shahid Iqbal, Sajid Ali and Aasia.
