MIRPURKHAS, March 11: Members of the Sindh Hari Union on Wednesday took out a rally besides observing a token hunger strike to protest against what they termed atrocities being perpetrated against them all over Sindh.

Protestors were led by the union's president, Master Lalhi, and general secretary Ahmed Khan Dars. Leaders of protesters, while speaking in front of the local press club, called for action against Rehmatullah Maher for kidnapping a hari, Rasheed Ahmed Rajpat, saying the government should provide some relief to landless peasants.

They said that the release of the kidnapped haris should be ensured, adding that haris should be recovered from being illegally confined by landlords, including Aagedino Dal and Abdul Rehman Mari. Land less peasants also urged the government to distribute agricultural land among them, adding that fictitious cases against them should be dropped.

SPSF'S PROTEST: The Sindh People's Students Federation staged a demonstration at the Kot Ghulam Muhammad town on Wednesday to protest against the murder of PPP MPA Abdullah Murad.

They also blocked the Mirpurkhas-Kot Ghulam Muhammad road and Kot Ghulam Muhammad-Samaro road. Traffic was restored on both the roads after half an hour after the peaceful dispersal of protestors.

UPLIFT PROJECTS: The district council is reported to have unanimously approved 40 development schemes of 28 citizen community boards with an estimated cost of Rs36.274 million.

The district council's session was presided over by naib nazim Nawab Mohammad Younus Talpur here on Wednesday. The EDO (community development) said that 28 citizen community boards had deposited 20 per cent of the estimated cost of their schemes in the district government's accounts, adding that there was a surplus amounting to Rs1.6 million.
