Court extends stay against PCB

HYDERABAD, March 4: Civil Judge-1 Hyderabad on Thursday again restrained Pakistan Cricket Board from holding any match of Hyderabad Region in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy till March 18.

The order was passed on a suit filed by first class cricketer, Ayaz Taifi, who through his counsel Imdad Unnar, has questioned the authority of Faheem Baig, secretary District Cricket Association (DCA) Hyderabad to represent the board saying that PCB was cited as a defendant in the suit through its chairman and therefore any authorisation to Mr Baig by the board has no value.

He said that according to law there must be a resolution of PCB or its council and power of attorney. He contended that a stay order by the court would not be against the interest of the country as claimed by DCA official because he had been deprived of his right guaranteed under Article 25 of Constitution.

He claimed that Sindh Cricket Association (SCA) was dissolved on Jan 29 and defendant failed to prove that SCA still existed.

He specified that he did not cite selection committee as respondent in his suit because it was not a body or association under any law. The court however extended the stay till March 18.
