Indian elections from April 20

NEW DELHI, Feb 29: India, the world's largest democracy, will go to early polls in four stages from April 20 to May 10 in an election expected to return the ruling Hindu nationalist-led coalition to power.

Chief Election Commissioner T.S.Krishnamurthy told reporters on Sunday that counting and results were due on May 13. He appealed for a peaceful and fair campaigning. -Reuters
