ISLAMABAD: Man gets life term for killing wife

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26: Additional district and sessions judge Islamabad Mohammed Tariq Abbasi awarded life imprisonment to a man in a murder case on Wednesday. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs0.3 million on the convict, who will have to undergo another six-month in jail in case he failed to pay the amount. The I/9 police had booked Ghulam Maqsood in April last year in his wife Zarina Bibi's murder case.

HUDOOD CASE: District and sessions judge Chaudhary Asad Raza awarded collectively eight-year-and-two-month rigorous imprisonment (RI) to seven people in a Hudood case.

The judge also imposed a collective fine of Rs35,000 on the convicts, in case of failure to pay the amount each convict will have to undergo another ten-day in jail.

The Secretariat police had booked Abid HussAin, Waqas Ahmed, Sadaqat Hussein, Sultan Ahmed, Shabbir Hussein, Zahid Hussain and Khurram Murad in a Hudood case.

In another case, the same court awarded one-year RI to a man in a drug smuggling case along with a fine of Rs10,000. Tarnoul police had booked Naseer Ahmed Khan and recovered 1kg contraband from his possession. The same court also awarded six-month RI to a man in another drug smuggling case and fined him Rs 20,000.
