JACOBABAD, Feb 26: Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister Mumtaz Hameed arrived here on Thursday to assure the residents who are observing a hunger strike at the District Council Chowk to demand provision of potable water.
The strikers are led by Citizen Action Committee president Akram Abro, Sarafa Association president Ghulam Nabi Qureshi, Small Traders' Association president Ahmed Ali Brohi, minority leader Nimosh Kumar and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam provincial leader Dr A. G. Ansari.
The adviser, while talking to journalists at the press club, said the provincial government was keen to resolve the problem and added that potable water would be supplied to the residents soon. He also visited the site of the Kherthal canal from where potable water is to be supplied to the town.
