JI demands complaint cells in Fata

LANDI KOTAL, Feb 23: The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) has demanded that the government should establish complaint and accountability cells in all the tribal agencies.

Speaking at a tribal gathering at the remote Shin Pokh village in Loe Shalman area, JI Landi Kotal general-secretary Sudher Ahmad Afridi alleged that the Khyber Agency political administrators were illegally pocketing a huge amount at a number of check posts set up on the Peshawar-Torkham road and Torkham border.

He said that if the money collected at the check posts and Torkham border by the officials of the political administration was spent on the welfare of the local population, most of the problems of the area could be solved without allocations of funds by the federal government.

Mr Afridi said that in order to curtail the powers of political administration and amendment in the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR), the federal government should carry out necessary legislation. The establishment of complaint and accountability cells in Fata would ensure provision of speedy justice, the JI leader said.
