QUETTA: CM calls for peace in Muharram

QUETTA, Feb 19: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Muhammad Yousuf has directed that strict measures be taken to maintain law and order and religious harmony in the province during Muharram , so that anti-social elements do not find any opportunity to disturb peace.

Quetta city district Nazim Muhammad Rahim Kakar met the chief minister here on Thursday and apprised him of the steps taken to maintain peace in Muharram. Jam Yousuf stressed that cooperation of all ulema of different schools of thought, tribal and political elders and influential figures be sought in this regard.

He expressed the hope that people would support the steps initiated by the government for the peaceful passage of Muharram. He desired that work on the Rs8 billion Quetta water supply project be stepped up. Jam Yousuf recalled that the government had approved the construction of two overhead bridges at two different places in the city.
