ISLAMABAD, Feb 19: Kuwaiti Minister for Commerce and Industry, Abdullah Abdul Rehman Al-Taweel has invited the Pakistani business community and government to build warehouses in Kuwait Free Trade Zone to export their goods to the destinations of their own choice.

The minister said this in a meeting with Pakistani Commerce Minister, Humayun Akhtar Khan here on Thursday. The Kuwaiti Minister for Commerce and Industry was accompanied by Khalid Abdullah Al-Saqr, from Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Kuwaiti minister said that at present one thousand trucks loaded with different goods daily move from Kuwait to Iraq and Pakistan could also avail the opportunity of exporting its goods from Kuwait to Iraq.

Mr Abdullah showed his interest in increasing imports of foodstuffs and agricultural products from Pakistan. He laid emphasis on close coordination between the chamber of commerce and industry of the two countries.

He also assured facilities to the Pakistani business community in holding trade exhibitions in Kuwait. Commerce Minister, Humayun Akhtar Khan stressed that with the close cooperation between the two countries the volume of the present trade could increase up to three times.

Mr Khan said that Pakistan would give priority to setting up warehouses in Kuwait so that it could take advantage of exporting its goods to various countries. He advocated that the trade between private-to-private sectors is the best option in view of the fact that Pakistan has liberalized its economy.
