Seven killed in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Feb 16: Seven people, including a politician who supported Indian rule, were killed in violence in the occupied Kashmir on Monday.

Mujahideen had gunned down Ghulam Mohammed, a senior activist of the People's Democratic Party, at a bus stop in Srinagar, a police spokesman said. Two policemen guarding the bus stop had also been killed, he added.

According to police, militants also killed a constable in Baramulla where gunmen shot dead a freedom fighter who had left the insurgency. Kashmiri fighters also shot dead a militant, Ashiq Hussain, who had just been freed in central Budgam district, killing his neighbour in the crossfire. -AFP
