MIRPURKHAS, Feb 8: Sindh Culture and Tourism Minister Shabir Ahmed Qaimkhani has said that the district government has received Rs2.5 million of relief money which is being distributed among rain-affected people.

He said this while speaking at a meeting of district relief committee here on Saturday, which was attended by District Nazim Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani, DCO Siddique Memon, revenue EDO Muhstaq Sheikh and others.

He directed the EDO to finalize survey of the losses and make on the spot inquiries so that government could be approached if any more grant was needed for the affected people.

The EDO said that in first phase compensation money would be given to those whose houses were destroyed. It was decided that cheques would be distributed in open kutchehries to affected people. Later, the minister gave two cheques of Rs100,000 each to heirs of two deceased and seven cheques of Rs50,000 each to seven injured persons.
