MIRPURKHAS: Flour crisis persists

MIRPURKHAS, Feb 1: Flour crisis continues in the district even after the supply of 1,500 wheat bags to 'chakkis' on the directives of the Sindh food secretary.

'Chakki' owners told this correspondent on Sunday that the quantity was so meagre that each 'chakki' would get only five wheat bags. They said wheat stocks in Sanghar and Mirpurkhas godowns had exhausted.

Meanwhile, flour continues to be sold at Rs13 and Rs14 per kg. Flour mills are selling flour in local market on retail prices instead of on wholesale rate. They are not giving original bills to shopkeepers as they are violating government orders by selling flour on retail rates in the market.
