Civic problems reviewed

KARACHI, Jan 29: Federal and provincial ministers and members of the National Assembly belonging to the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) have started holding open kutcheries in pursuance of the directives of MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

Federal Minister for Housing, Safwanullah, and MNA Dr Abdul Qadir Khanzada, held an open kutchery in Mehmoodabad and issued on-the-spot orders on some complaints. Applications on water shortageand defective sewerage system were forwarded to the departments for action.

In North Karachi, provincial ministers Sardar Ahmed and Naeem Ishtiaq, MNA Kanwar Khalid Younas and MPA Idress Siddique held an open kutchery where the residents complained of shortage of water supply, long interruptions in electricity supply, defective sewerage system and dilapidated roads.

They issued on-the-spot orders on certain applications. In another open kutchery in the Defence area, Provincial Minister Rauf Siddiqui and MPA Akhtar Bilgrami heard the residents who complained of absence of or defective civic amenities.-APP
