'India seeks lasting peace'

NEW DELHI, Jan 22: India has an earnest desire to adhere to the renewed peace process with Pakistan and efforts are being made to ensure a lasting peace between the two countries , says Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

Mr Vajpayee said: "We have ensured peace and security in the country". "Cannons are not booming on the borders and morale of infiltrators has been defeated," he said while addressing a rally on Chandrabhaga Ground in Pandharpur, Maharastra.

Prime Minister Vajpayee said there was a possibility of an early Lok Sabha polls, enabling the people to decide the BJP government's performance of his government, he added.

He appealed to all political parties to sink their differences and make efforts to make India achieve superpower status soon.-APP
