17 Afghans picked up

MIRPURKHAS, Jan 21: The Town police arrested 17 Afghan nationals in raids on the Royal Musafirkhana and the Mehboob Musafirkhana here on Tuesday night.

Those arrested were identified as Ali Marjan, Aslam, Gul Mohammad, Mustaqeem, Hasti Khan, Hassan Khan, Inayatullah, Akbar Khan, Rehan Gul, Hazrat Mohammad, Agha Khan, Mohammad Wazir, Yousuf Khan, Syed Hassan, Mir Zaman, Arif and Hijratullah. The police registered a case under section 14 of the Foreigners Act and section 109, PPC, against them.

SHOW-CAUSE NOTICES: The EDO, health, Dr Fazal Illahi Yousfani, has said show-cause notices have been issued to some paramedics who were sabotaging the anti-polio campaign.

He was speaking at a news conference at his office here on Wednesday. The EDO said he visited basic health units of Shadi Palli, Siddique Abro, Saleh Bhambhro, Ali Nawaz Shah and other areas and found Dr Mohammad Ramzan Mangrio and health technicians Ghulam Rasool Jalbani and Liaquat absent.

He said he had recommended to the district government to take action against them. He said Dr Amin Bhatti and midwife Naseem Akhtar of the basic health unit of Ali Nawaz Shah were also found absent. He said the woman had been suspended and disciplinary action against the doctor had been recommended.
