HYDERABAD, Jan 20: The Sindh High Court circuit bench has put on notice the regional police officer and DPO investigation in two petitions for allegedly harassing a landlord of the area.
Abdul Rahman Marri had filed two petitions against Hyderabad regional police officer (RPO), district police officer (DPO) investigation and Jhuddo police station SHO, pleading before the court that he was harassed and threatened of being implicated in false cases.
Mr Marri had stated that Mannu Bheel had been blackmailing him to extort money through false charges and had filed an application with the police claiming that he (Abdul Rahman Marri) had abducted Kherro Bheel and seven others on May 4, 1998.
He said that on the request of Mr Bheel two raids were conducted at his residence by judicial magistrate and first class magistrate for the recovery of his eight family members, but no detained person was found and the reports were submitted with the Sindh High Court through the Sanghar district and sessions judge. Thereafter, Mr Bheel withdrew his application.
The petitioner has claimed that Shirimati Dharmi had also lodged a case under section 365 and 34 PPC against him which was also duly investigated and disposed off as cancel class.
He informed the court that Mr Bheel, in order to pressurize and blackmail him, staged a drama of hunger strike upon which the Sindh governor directed the RPO to launch investigation into the matter.
The petitioner has claimed that the RPO called him to his office in the presence of Mr Bheel on Oct 14. He has accused the RPO of insulting and humiliating him.
Mr Marri prayed the court to direct the police officers not to harass him and his Haris and also declare the acts of the respondents as illegal and mala fide.
The Hyderabad DPO investigation and the Jhuddo police station SHO in their separate comments denied the charges and prayed the court to dismiss the petitions.
