KHAAR, Jan 19: Two brothers were gunned down and another was injured over a land dispute between two rival groups at the Mandal village, some 8km from here, on Monday.
The groups of Malik Zarin and Haji Habib Noor were involved in the dispute for the last many years. Haji Habib and his brothers Rehmanuddin and Haji Sakhi were going home when they were attacked allegedly by their rivals.
Rehmanuddin and Haji Sakhi died on their way to hospital, while Haji Habib received serious injuries. He was admitted to the agency headquarters hospital.
The political administration registered a case and started raids to arrest the culprits. An official told Dawn that the administration had arres-ted five people of the Malik Zarin group under section 40 of the Frontier Crimes Regulation.
He said the elites of the area had decided at a Jirga to burn the houses of the accused in accordance with the tribal traditions. However, the administration asked them not to implement the decision.
ELECTROCUTED: A middle-aged man, Mian Gul, was electrocuted while working on the 11,000KV transmission line at the Umari village.
