KARACHI, Jan 15: Justice Shabbir Ahmed of Sindh High Court who is also administrative judge of anti-terrorism courts in Karachi on Thursday referred the matter pertaining to release of activists of the banned Sipah-i-Mohammad in a sectarian killing case to ATC judge for an appropriate order.
Investigation officer of Sir Syed Town police station had earlier filed 497-B police report for the release of Imtiaz Hussain Jaffery, an activist of banned Sipah-i-Mohammad, in a sectarian killing case.
He submitted that no any evidence and eyewitness was found against accused and he may be released in said case. However, he stated that if any evidence was found against him, he would be arrested.
The activist of the banned religious outfit was remanded on charge of killing four students at Madressah Rehmania in Buffer Zone in 2001. On last hearing, Judge Arshad Noor Khan of the ATC-III as acting administrative judge, refused to accept 497-B police report filed by investigation officer for release of the activist.
The AJ directed the investigation officer to make efforts to trace out eyewitness and submit proper report." According to FIR unidentified armed men entered the Rehmania Madressah in Sector 16/A area Buffer Zone and opened fire on students resulting in the death of four people.-PPI
